Things to do in Gunnedah

Home | Do

Explore the local area. Maybe admire some of our silo art. View the panorama of the Nandewar Ranges from Porcupine Lookout. Visit the stone sculptures at Pensioner’s Hill, and read about how the Hill was named. Or visit in November to see the sea of purple as the Jacarandas come into full flower.

The golf course is within walking distance from Rose-Lea. Gunnedah’s newly refurbished swimming pool is also within walking distance. Or be guided by your hosts to take a stroll or a short drive where you may see kangaroos and even a koala close up.

Take a drive in any direction to see more of the northwest of the State. A 30 minute drive will take you to expanses of canola, cotton, sunflowers, or for the keen-eyed, drifts of flannel flowers.

Further afield, spend the day visiting the Warrumbungles National Park and Siding Springs Observatory. Drive to the top of Mt Kaputar at Narrabri. Tamworth, the country music capital of Australia, is only an hour away. For the more adventurous, a dry weather drive through the iconic Pilliga Scrub is the perfect way to experience a taste of outback Australia.
